An explosion occurred in the Imam Ali bin Abi Talib mosque in the Wadi al-Dahab neighborhood of Homs, causing the death of at least six people and injuring over 20. The incident took place during Friday prayers, and images show the chaos created, with people fleeing and victims being transported to ambulances. The explosion left a crater in the wall and destroyed the surrounding area. Local officials suggest it could be a suicide attack or planted explosives.

Homs, with its diverse population, may experience sectarian tensions following this attack, which has not been claimed by any group, although ISIL activity has recently increased in Syria. The incident highlights the ongoing instability in the country, as authorities in Damascus attempt to regain control.
