In several Italian cities, including Rome and Milan, demonstrations and strikes organized by unions took place, calling for economic and diplomatic sanctions against Israel for its actions in Gaza. The protests coincided with the recognition of Palestine as a state by other countries, but Italy remains cautious. Participants expressed their solidarity with the Palestinians, highlighting the severity of the humanitarian situation in Gaza, where tens of thousands of Palestinians have died in the recent conflict. The Meloni government remains reluctant to recognize Palestine and to impose sanctions on Israel.
