The German data protection authorities, led by Meike Kamp, have reported that the DeepSeek app has not demonstrated that it protects German users' data to EU standards. These concerns have been passed on to Google and Apple, which could block the app in Germany. DeepSeek, with suspicious links to the Chinese military, has ignored requirements to remove it from app stores, and German authorities cannot apply sanctions in China. The disclosures come amid similar measures by Italy and export restrictions on advanced technologies to China.
