British-born Daniel Jackson created the Free Republic of Verdia on a territory of 0.5 km² located between Croatia and Serbia, proclaiming himself president. Although he managed to attract nearly 400 citizens and establish a government, Jackson was detained and deported by Croatian police in October 2023. He accused the Croatian authorities of aggression and sought support in Serbia. Despite the obstacles, he remains optimistic and hopes to return to the reclaimed land.
