Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis sparked irony on social media after he bought a globe to "locate Greenland"

Andrej Babis, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, became the target of social media ironies after announcing the purchase of a globe for 15,000 crowns (approximately 617 euros), considered excessively expensive compared to the usual prices in the Czech Republic, which range between 400 and 1,000 crowns. Babis stated that he bought the globe to better understand Greenland's position, in the context of comments made by American President Donald Trump about this territory. The criticisms were amplified by his statements about the advantages of the globe over maps, which he accused of distorting geographical realities.

Social media users reacted humorously, suggesting that Babis should use the globe to locate Ukraine, considering his stance on aid to this country. Following his statements, searches for globes increased by 420%, according to the spokesperson for a price comparison site. Babis, leader of the ANO coalition, returned to power in December and continues to be a controversial figure in Czech politics.
