France is facing a major cybersecurity scandal after extremely sensitive medical data from over 15 million French citizens became publicly accessible online. According to the television station France 2, the cyber attack exposed confidential information, including complete medical records and details about serious illnesses, such as HIV status.

Among those affected are high-ranking politicians as well as officials in the security field. The hacker who claimed the attack stated that the data comes from a company that provides software for thousands of medical offices and centers, thus raising serious concerns about the protection of personal information in the healthcare system.
