In the context of the U.S. government shutdown, District Judge John J. McConnell Jr. granted the Trump administration a deadline until Friday to make payments through the SNAP program, intended for food assistance. However, the administration requested the appeals court to suspend any court order that imposes spending beyond the available funds.
This request was made despite the fact that the spokesperson for the governor of Wisconsin confirmed that some beneficiaries have already received full payments for the month of November. The legal dispute has generated uncertainties for the food program that supports approximately 1 in 8 Americans, most of whom have low incomes.
