A recently discovered vulnerability in Coldcard software has led to the disappearance of up to 89 million dollars in Bitcoin, triggering an alert in the crypto community. According to Fox News, attackers exploited a programming error in certain versions of the Coldcard firmware, which allowed access to the wallet's recovery phrase, the key needed to transfer funds. The first wave of the attack occurred on July 30, when 1,000 Bitcoin were quickly transferred from 1,196 wallets. Coinkite, the manufacturer of Coldcard, released a firmware update, but users with affected wallets need to create a new wallet to protect their funds. CEO Rodolfo Novak emphasized the urgency of the situation, urging users to act quickly. Experts warn that attacks may continue, and unsecured users are advised to transfer their assets immediately.
