The pigeon was found in Mumbai harbor in May 2023, suspected of espionage because of the rings tied to its legs and apparent Chinese inscriptions. After eight months in captivity, police discovered the pigeon's true identity and dropped the espionage charges. This is not the first case of a bird suspected of spying in India.
