The Chinese government declared on Saturday that it will not comply with the sanctions imposed by the United States on five Chinese companies accused of purchasing Iranian oil.
In recent months, the U.S. has intensified sanctions to reduce Iran's revenues, targeting Chinese oil refineries that source crude from the Islamic Republic at discounted prices.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce issued a statement asserting that these sanctions should not be recognized or respected, considering them unjustified and a violation of international law. The statement emphasizes that the sanctions restrict the normal business activities of Chinese companies with foreign countries, thereby affecting international relations. China thus reaffirms its commitment to support the economic interests of its enterprises in the face of external pressures.
