President Xi Jinping has initiated restrictions on telecommunications equipment from European companies Nokia and Ericsson, imposing national security checks for their contracts. This measure is part of China's effort to reduce dependence on Western technology and promote technological self-sufficiency. The market share of the two companies has drastically decreased, and the stringent localization requirements imposed by Beijing severely affect European businesses.
