China has announced that it will eliminate 100% of tariffs on goods imported from Africa, benefiting 53 African countries, excluding Eswatini. This measure, designed to support African economies, also serves geopolitical purposes, strengthening China's leverage over US trade policies. In 2024, trade between China and Africa increased, but Africa has a significant trade deficit. Beijing plans to diversify imports from Africa and strengthen long-term economic ties amid trade tensions over Trump's tariffs.
