China and Russia have begun joint military exercises in the South China Sea amid concerns over strengthening Sino-Russian relations.

The military exercises, dubbed 'Joint Sea-2024', are taking place in Guangdong province and aim to demonstrate the determination and capabilities of the two countries to deal with maritime security threats. They come as NATO has accused China of supporting the Russian military industry. Japan has expressed serious concerns about the joint military exercises.
