The Russian authorities have warned that the lack of health standards in the area could seriously affect the summer season. The December incident also led to the spill of tens of thousands of tons of toxic fuel oil, causing an environmental disaster acknowledged by President Putin. The estimated financial damage is around 900 million euros.
