The German Foreign Ministry announced on Monday the summoning of Russian Ambassador Sergei Nechaev, in response to direct threats from Russia against certain targets in Germany, in the context of German support for Ukraine. German officials emphasized that they will not be intimidated by these threats and espionage activities, considering them unacceptable. Details about the nature of the threats and the targeted sites were not provided.
The summoning of the ambassador comes after the Russian Foreign Ministry published a list of German companies involved in the manufacturing of drones for Ukraine. Also, on the same day, Russian security services announced the arrest of a German woman, accused of transporting a homemade device intended for a planned attack by Ukraine. The German government, the main donor to Ukraine, remains on alert due to a campaign of espionage and cyberattacks attributed to Moscow.
