China asks the European Union to drop preliminary tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles by July 4.

Beijing made the request after both sides agreed to hold new trade talks. The European Union has imposed provisional duties of up to 38.1% on electric vehicles imported from China while investigating possible subsidies deemed unfair. China has expressed willingness to negotiate and warned it would take measures to protect Chinese firms if tariffs were imposed.
