A town in Italy will introduce, for the first time, a tourist tax for dogs starting in 2026. Residents will also have to pay an annual tax for their pets.

Councilor Luis Walcher proposes an annual tax of 100 euros per dog for residents and an absolute premiere: a tourist tax for dogs of 1.50 euros per day for each "four-legged tourist" visiting the area.

The collected money will be used for cleaning the streets and setting up special parks for dogs.
