The Lithuanian Prime Minister, Inga Ruginiene, announced that American troops will remain in Lithuania for at least another year and a half, operating under a rotational presence. Currently, over 1,000 American soldiers are stationed in Lithuania, contributing to national security in the context of tense relations with Russia.
Ruginiene emphasized that the Baltic states, including Lithuania, have met the U.S. requirements to increase defense spending, reaching 5% of GDP. This aligns with Washington's new national security strategy, which calls on European allies to take on more responsibilities in defense. Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia stand out for their high defense allocations and military support provided to Ukraine in the conflict with Russia.
