The survey carried out by INSCOP Research, commissioned by IICCMER, reveals a growing nostalgia for the communist regime among Romanians, with 55.8% believing that it had many positive aspects. Also, 48.4% believe that the standard of living was better before 1989. The survey points out that nostalgia is fueled by current frustrations with social inequality and economic instability. There is a clear call for public policies to address these grievances and ensure adequate education about the real history to counteract nostalgic tendencies that can damage democracy.
