In the peak season of colds and flu, the number of illnesses has increased significantly, with the National Institute of Public Health reporting a 28% increase compared to the previous week. In the first week of December, 3,018 cases of flu were reported, twice as many as in the previous week, with a high concentration of cases in Bucharest and the counties of Botoșani, Iași, Suceava, Cluj, and Brașov. Family doctors recommend flu vaccination, especially for children, pregnant women, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses. In Brașov County, the number of flu cases has increased by 83%. Additionally, respiratory infections have risen by 28.2%. Specialists warn that the peak of illnesses is expected in January, after the holiday break, and recommend preventive measures such as frequent hand washing and avoiding crowded places.
