Innovative device for treating treatment-resistant depression

The company Motif Neurotech has created a small device, similar to a blueberry, designed to be mounted on the skull, serving to provide electrical stimulation to reduce symptoms of depression. This technology is part of the category of brain-computer interfaces (BCI) and focuses on treating mental health disorders, unlike other companies that focus on helping paralyzed individuals.

A clinical study, approved by American authorities, will evaluate the safety and efficacy of the implant over 12 months, involving patients with severe forms of treatment-resistant depression. If the results are favorable, the technology could offer a new therapeutic option for millions of patients who do not respond to conventional medication. The company's co-founder, Sameer Sheth, emphasized the severity of treatment-resistant depression, which affects approximately three million Americans.
