The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved eye drops with 1.44% aceclidine, a world first for treating presbyopia, which affects most adults over 45. These drops contract the pupil, improving near vision without affecting distance vision. Clinical trials have shown that the effect appears within 30 minutes and lasts up to ten hours, with minimal side effects. The drug, called Vizz, will be available in the US from October 2025.
