A study published in Eurosurveillance has found that 4.3% of packaged salads contain Toxoplasma gondii, with higher rates in Romania and Lithuania, exceeding 10%. Toxoplasmosis, dangerous for pregnant women and people with weakened immunity, is transmitted through contaminated food. The parasite detected was viable, highlighting the need for strict hygiene in production. Recommendations include stepping up controls and washing vegetables labeled 'ready-to-eat'. The study, conducted between 2021-2022, provides essential information for public health.
