During the last week, the online space has been dominated by a series of relevant topics from domestic and foreign politics, including debates about Romania's positioning on the international stage, controversies generated by the actions and messages of political leaders, as well as discussions about the dynamics of parties and voting intentions reflected in INSCOP polls.

This material monitors the most impactful themes surrounding the parties AUR, PNL, PSD, UDMR, and USR. An assessment conducted through the NewsVibe platform, which integrates artificial intelligence technologies for analyzing content from the media and social networks, indicated the publication of 5,301 materials about the 5 parties during this period, from web sources, on Facebook, YouTube, and relevant TikTok accounts in Romania. The processed data revealed ten entities that benefited from an increased presence in the digital environment, analyzing both the elements that underpinned this growth and the contribution of online channels to the dissemination and reinforcement of messages.

Political topics in the last week

PSD leaders, Sorin Grindeanu, and UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, criticized the absence of the President of Romania from the World Economic Forum in Davos, considering it a mistake. Grindeanu also emphasized that Romania should accept without hesitation Donald Trump's invitation to be part of the Council for Peace, also suggesting the allocation of significant funds for this.

George Simion, the leader of AUR, generated controversy by cutting a cake in the shape of Greenland, covered with the US flag, at a reception in Washington where he was awarded for defending democracy. This gesture was negatively interpreted by PNL and USR, who accused him of "betraying national interests," and led to the launch of an online petition for his investigation. On the other hand, AUR launched the "Back Home" program for Romanians in the Diaspora, an initiative dedicated to repatriation.

An INSCOP Research poll indicates a significant increase in voting intention for AUR to nearly 41%, while PSD, PNL, and USR are recording declines. The poll also reveals a lack of trust among Romanians in the justice system, with over 70% believing it is not independent of political influences.

The EU–Mercosur agreement has been sent for verification to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), a decision supported by PSD and AUR, who voted for its submission, citing the protection of Romanian farmers' interests. PNL, USR, and UDMR opposed this decision. Meanwhile, PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu presented some of his positions and priorities in public interventions and media appearances, including on the show "You Found Out! with Ionut Cristache," where he commented on both the Davos/Peace Council topic and issues such as Mercosur and internal political disputes.
Within PNL, tensions and debates are emerging regarding the party's direction and support for Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.

Some of these discussions took place in meetings of the liberal leadership held at Vila Lac, where grievances related to reforms and the relationship with USR were reported, and some voices (e.g., Rareș Bogdan) harshly criticized the current line. In this context, Valeriu Stoica (former PNL president) pointed out that the opposition of some liberals to Bolojan "is not okay" and warned about the problematic ties created by the long-standing coexistence of PNL–PSD, which could undermine internal support.

Also regarding party decisions and appointments, PNL proposed Daniel Constantin for the position of president of ARICE (Romanian Agency for Investments and Foreign Trade), as part of a series of appointments discussed in the liberal leadership.
The Minister of Labor, Florin Manole (PSD), brought back into discussion progressive taxation as a possible solution for "a fairer tax system," in the context of debates about taxes and economic policies.
