The Euro U-21 competition in Slovakia, FCSB's war with the City Hall for the National Arena, the Sports Festival show in Cluj, Cristi Chivu's move to Inter, but also Gabriela Ruse's performances on grass or George Russell's victory in the Canadian Grand Prix were the topics that defined the online sports conversation over the last seven days.

The network of central entities in the sports content published online shows an agenda dominated by football: discussions about the youth national team and the European finals tournament are intertwined with internal tensions in the Superliga (FCSB, Dinamo, Rapid, Universitatea Craiova), as well as international echoes generated by Chivu's move to Inter and his new team's participation in the Club World Cup. In the background, tennis is also in the spotlight with Gabriella Ruse's performances, while the multi-sport events in Cluj and Russell's success in Canada prove that global stars regularly manage to break football's monopoly in the Romanian media landscape.

Romania U21 ended their EURO 2025 journey with two decisive defeats. On June 14, the "little tricolors" led Spain after Louis Munteanu's goal, but the Iberians turned the score back in three minutes to win 2-1 On June 17, in Bratislava, hosts Slovakia also won 2-1, Munteanu scoring again, and Romania ended the group without points. Immediately after the Slovakia match, coach Daniel Pancu said the results came as no surprise, citing the limitations of the squad and selection difficulties ahead of the tournament.

The domestic club scene is boiling: FCSB is forced to look for a stadium after the Arena Națională was rented for other events. Rivals capitalize on the moment. At Rapid, majority shareholder Dan Șucu has appointed Victor Angelescu as the club's new president, replacing Viorel Moldovan. Universitatea Craiova has continued to act on the transfer market, with several moves outlining an accelerated strengthening campaign ahead of the 2025-2026 season.

Sports Festival reconfirmed Cluj-Napoca as a hotspot on Romania's sports experience map: a packed BT Arena cheered a "Ronaldinho & Friends - Team Romania" match-show, and Simona Halep announced that she will play her farewell match on June 13, 2026, also at the festival.

Cristian Chivu has effectively stepped into the role of Inter Milan coach: on June 15 he was introduced to the press at the Los Angeles training camp, where he led the preparations for his Club World Cup debut, the first match being the June 18 draw with Monterrey; vice-president Javier Zanetti publicly expressed his confidence that the new coach "will do an excellent job".

Romanian women's tennis continues to generate interest: Gabriela Ruse reached the final of the WTA 'S-Hertogenbosch WTA tournament, a performance that brings her important points, but also media exposure for Romanian players in the grass court season.

For its part, Formula 1 attracted attention after George Russell controlled the race at Montreal (Canada) from pole position and brought Mercedes its first win of the season.
