Public interest in Romania over the last 24 hours has been dominated by international football, weather and atmospheric phenomena, as well as fiscal, political and domestic current-affairs topics.

Barcelona – Racing Santander drew significant attention after Barcelona’s 7-2 victory, with Raphinha scoring a hat-trick and Lamine Yamal also among the goalscorers; results involving Atlético Madrid and Osasuna, Manchester United and Brighton, and Europa League matches, including Milan – Benfica and Ararat-Armenia – Sparta Prague, were also among the topics of interest.

Weather and atmospheric developments form a second major topic, with interest in the warming forecast for September 17 and in scenarios involving a cold air mass or the polar vortex.

Fiscal and economic issues are represented by ANAF, excise duties, investment, pensions and the prospect of a recession: on September 16, ANAF announced simultaneous inspections of 180 currency exchange offices, while the temporary reduction of the diesel excise duty remained in the spotlight.

Political and institutional current affairs include the consultations at Cotroceni Palace to nominate the prime minister, Victor Negrescu’s statements in Strasbourg and the case of Andreea-Petronela Cîmpianu, who announced that she would continue her activity in the PNL parliamentary group; Victory Square also remains associated with the aftermath of the protests on September 15.

Romanian sport rounds out the topics of interest with the Romanian men’s national volleyball team’s 3-2 victory over France in Cluj-Napoca, as well as Gheorghe Hagi’s statements about the national team’s objectives and the possibility of a Romanian side reaching the 2028 Europa League final, scheduled to take place in Bucharest.
