Discussions about transfers in the domestic football championship, the preparation of the national team's matches in June and the Roland Garros tournament dominated the sports topics in Romania in the previous week. Using NewsVibe, an innovative online trend detection tool, we identify and analyze the map of online discussions about sports, creating a semantic network based on entities (clubs, personalities, events, etc.) that have been discussed in similar contexts online. NewsVibe applies advanced artificial intelligence methods to build interaction maps that highlight the central actors of online discussions on sports topics, how they are connected to each other, the associations of topics, concepts and influencers (personalities, clubs, brands) that form around a topic.

Sports discussions in Romanian online were dominated by domestic soccer in the last week: FCSB, fresh champions, flaunt their financial strength after the title and announce their first key transfer, Bosnian defender Daniel Graovac from CFR Cluj, a move seen as the start of an aggressive market campaign. Even more much has been made, however, of the negotiations with Dinamo for the transfer of Dennis Politic. Online sources have also written a lot about Rapid and Dan Șucu.
Tot football, but at representative level, has generated debate with Mircea Lucescu calling up the squad for the matches against Austria on June 7 and Cyprus (June 10).
On the European front, the UEFA Conference League final played in Wroclaw brought to the forefront Chelsea, who defeated Betis 4-1 and rewrote the trophy statistics, and the ever high interest of Romanians in English clubs, reflected on the net, exploded with this performance, in addition to there being much content published about Liverpooland the Premier League, at the end of the season.
In Italy, Cristi Chivu was praised after saving Parma from relegation, with the club preparing a contract for him until 2027, and his success has revived Romanian fans' nostalgia for the performances of home-grown coaches in Serie A.
Tennis provided a strong counterpoint: at Roland Garros, Jaqueline Cristian easily got past Kimberly Birrell and then eliminated Sara Bejlek, while Jessica Pegula halted the rise of Andrea Todoni, each result fueling waves of comments and memes.
