The European Union has decided to tighten migration policy, adopting a project that provides for the establishment of expulsion centers outside the community bloc. This compromise was reached following negotiations among member states, welcomed by supporters of a firm stance against illegal immigration, but criticized by human rights organizations.

The project, which will be subject to a final vote in the European Parliament, includes harsher penalties for migrants who refuse to leave the EU, such as the confiscation of identity documents and extending detention up to 24 months. Additionally, the entry ban into the EU for those expelled will be extended to ten or twenty years. France and Spain have expressed skepticism about these centers, considering them a threat to human rights.

The new text marks a significant change in the EU's migration policy, reflecting the rise of the right in the European Parliament. Critics accuse this agreement of being a setback for fundamental rights for migrants.
