The European Union has decided to allocate 2.8 billion euros to Ukraine from a total aid program of 50 billion euros, aimed at supporting the country's national budget in the context of the war with Russia. The European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, stated that "the speed and commitment of Ukraine towards substantial reforms deserve this payment."

This represents the fourth tranche of payment for Ukraine under the European financing scheme. During a meeting of EU defense ministers, the head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, announced that Ukraine will soon receive a tranche of 5.9 billion euros from a new European lending instrument.

Additionally, the ministers discussed the use of 6.6 billion euros for a separate armament fund. Since 2022, the EU and its member states have provided Ukraine with nearly 205 billion euros in aid, including humanitarian, financial, and military support.
