Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban declared that Hungary has won the 'first battle' at the European Union summit, emphasizing that Ukraine will not receive money if it does not ensure the transit of Russian oil. Orban stated that Budapest will continue to oppose a European loan of 90 billion euros for Ukraine, insisting that 'if there is no oil, there is no money.' At a press meeting, he described the pressure and intimidation he has faced, but reaffirmed Hungary's firm position. Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto supported the same line, comparing the current reactions of European leaders to those during the migration crisis of 2015. Szijjarto stated that Hungary will not yield regarding the loan for Ukraine as long as its neighboring country continues to restrict oil supplies. Both leaders emphasized that Hungary is not responsible for the war in Ukraine and that it will not get involved in it.
