On the night from Thursday to Friday, Romania was shaken by an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.9 on the Richter scale, according to the National Institute for Earth Physics Research and Development. The earthquake occurred in the Vrancea region, at a depth of 87.7 km, at 03:54, being felt near the cities of Focșani (47 km W), Buzău (64 km N), Sfântu-Gheorghe (64 km E), Brașov (76 km E), Ploiești (94 km NE) and Bacău (100 km S). On the same day, another earthquake, of 2 degrees, occurred in the Vrancea-Buzău area, at a depth of 12 km, at 13:36. The largest earthquakes this year were of 4.4 degrees, in February and May, while last year, the most significant earthquake had a magnitude of 5.4, in Buzău.
