Just a few days before Christmas, meteorologists announce a significant change in the weather in Romania. Florinela Georgescu, head of forecasting at ANM, stated that starting tomorrow evening it will begin to snow in the hilly and mountainous areas, especially in the Eastern and Southern Carpathians. Precipitation will include snow, rain, and sleet, particularly affecting the northern half of Oltenia, Muntenia, and Transylvania.
Wind intensifications will accompany the snowfall, which may lead to reduced visibility and risks of ice and glaze. A snow layer of 15-20 cm is expected in the western part of the Southern Carpathians by the end of this episode. After a short calmer period, a new wave of cold weather and snowfall is anticipated in the last days of the year. The meteorologist recommends caution regarding updates to forecasts and appropriate equipment for travelers, especially in mountainous areas.
