Former constitutional judge Tudorel Toader analyzed the Central Electoral Bureau's decision to ban USR from campaigning for Nicușor Dan, after the party withdrew its support for Elena Lasconi. He said that USR must respect the BEC decision, but can find legal ways to support Dan. The BEC justified the ban by European and national regulations which stipulate that parties can only promote their own candidates with valid candidacies.
