Daniel David, the Minister of Education and Research, announced on Monday the public transparency of high school curricula, marking a paradigm shift aimed at reducing functional illiteracy, considered a national security risk. The programs aim to develop eight key competencies, including language, STEM, digital, and entrepreneurial skills.

The reform of the high school curriculum began with the adoption of framework plans, which offer two options: standard and alternative, to allow for the personalization of education. David emphasizes the importance of balancing scientific and cultural disciplines to form competent citizens.

The development of the school programs involved over 1,500 specialists and will continue with the creation of textbooks and teacher training. The new curriculum will be implemented starting with the 2026-2027 school year, aiming to reduce functional illiteracy and effectively integrate students into the labor market. The Ministry has opened a public debate for proposals until December 12, with the final programs expected to be published in January 2026.
