The Ministry of Education of Romania has launched a national program that allows public, private, and confessional high schools to test their own study and educational innovation models, as part of an initiative to decentralize the education system. High schools can register until January 5, 2026, provided they operate in a full-time education format. The program is also open to institutions that teach in the languages of national minorities or that implement modern educational alternatives. Minister Daniel David emphasizes the importance of this step, aiming to transform schools into institutions adapted to the needs of children, not into bureaucratic entities. The program, with a maximum duration of five years, aims to test a new model of national curriculum, structured on equivalent horizontal options. The goal is to develop effective mechanisms for testing and evaluating curricular interventions, as well as to implement models of decentralized educational management.
