Two recent reports, presented as a 'national diagnostic' of digital and scientific literacy among students in Romania, were mentioned by former Minister of Education Daniel David. These studies, conducted with the support of BRIO and endorsed by UNICEF and the Ministry of Education, show that approximately one third of students face significant difficulties in these areas. Although David emphasizes the concerns expressed in the PISA studies, he notes that the reports are not nationally representative and cannot correlate performance with school programs.

A controversial aspect is the use of a generative AI model in the preparation of documents, which raises questions about their validity. David believes that functional illiteracy represents a national security risk and has proposed its inclusion in the National Defense Strategy.
