Wizz Air has officially reopened its base in Târgu Mureș, marking the beginning of the summer aviation season of 2026. The 'Transylvania' International Airport will now operate with a state-of-the-art Airbus A320neo aircraft, offering ten routes to eight destinations. In total, 460,000 seats are available for this year. Anastasia Novak, Wizz Air representative, emphasized the importance of Romania as a key market and mentioned that Târgu Mureș was the first airport in Romania from which the company operated, starting in 2006.
The new routes include destinations such as Brussels, Larnaca, Paris, Dortmund, Milan, Rome, Basel, and London, thus expanding the local network. The Vice President of the Mureș County Council, Csibi Attila, highlighted the efforts made to transform the airport into a connectivity hub, while the airport director, Peti Andras, discussed investments in infrastructure, mentioning the expansion of the parking platform and the improvement of security equipment.
Wizz Air operates a fleet of 262 aircraft and transported 68.6 million passengers in 2025.
