The United States has set a world record, becoming the first country to export over 10 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in a single month, according to LSEG data. Exports reached 10.1 million tons in October, up from 9.1 million tons in September. This increase was driven by the commissioning of the Plaquemines plant in Louisiana and the expansion of the Corpus Christi Stage 3 project. Plaquemines exported 2.2 million tons, while Corpus Christi exported 1.6 million tons, both setting records. Europe was the main buyer, receiving 6.9 million tons, while deliveries to Asia increased to 1.96 million tons. Gas prices in Europe and Asia were relatively close, but the small difference did not encourage the redirecting of deliveries to the Asian market, thus reinforcing Europe as the main beneficiary of American exports.
