Cryptocurrency A7A5, issued by Ilan Șor and Promsvyazbank from Russia, is targeted by EU sanctions for facilitating the circumvention of international sanctions. It is linked to the Kyrgyz exchange Grinex, considered the successor to Garantex, which was sanctioned by the US. The European Union plans to ban any transactions with A7A5 and to investigate banks in Russia and Central Asia for involvement in these activities. The sanctions require the approval of all EU member states and come in the context of the expansion of sanctions by the US. Experts claim that Șor is helping Russia in the hybrid war against Moldova and in the conflict in Ukraine.
