The average net salary increased to 5,557 lei in February 2026

In February 2026, the average net salary was 5,557 lei, an increase of 39 lei (+0.7%) compared to the previous month, while the average gross salary reached 9,272 lei, 52 lei (+0.6%) more. The highest earnings were recorded in programming activities (12,952 lei) and the manufacturing of tobacco products (11,920 lei), while the lowest were in fishing (2,884 lei).

Compared to February 2025, the average net salary increased by 3.8%. The real salary index was 95% compared to the previous year. Salary fluctuations are influenced by the granting of annual bonuses, and in February, increases were recorded in most sectors, due to occasional bonuses. The most significant increases occurred in the manufacturing of tobacco products (+24.7%) and in insurance (+23.4%). Decreases in the average net salary were observed in the extraction of metal ores and in gambling activities, between 7% and 10.5%. In the public sector, there were slight increases in education (+0.5%) and public administration (+0.2%), but a decrease in health (-1.8%).
