Deputy Prime Minister Tanczos Barna blamed the 9.3% budget deficit on high payments for salaries, pensions and investments. He stressed that this spending, while beneficial, was unsustainable, leading to costly borrowing for Romania. Barna said that it was essential for the state to regain the trust of citizens and the European Union, given the budget deficit regulations and the challenges faced in relations with international institutions.
