INS reports a 2.3% increase in the turnover in wholesale trade in the first three months of 2026, compared to 2025

In the first three months of 2026, the National Institute of Statistics announced a 2.3% increase in the turnover of wholesale trade (excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles) compared to the same period in 2025, both in gross series and adjusted, by 2.6%.


In March 2026, turnover increased by 24.3% compared to the previous month, due to significant increases in various sectors. The specialized wholesale trade of other products increased by 44.3%, followed by the wholesale trade of other machinery and equipment (+39.2%) and of computer and telecommunications equipment (+31.9%). Additionally, the wholesale trade of food, beverages, and tobacco increased by 21.6%, while consumer goods, other than food, rose by 17.4%. Intermediary activities in wholesale trade grew by 13.1%, and non-specialized wholesale trade by 11.3%. The wholesale trade of raw agricultural products and live animals recorded a 9.3% increase.
