Between January and June 2025, the trade balance deficit increased by 10.7% to €16.7 billion. Machinery and transportation equipment accounted for 47.3% of exports and 36.2% of imports, while other manufactured goods had export shares of 27.6% and import shares of 28.1%. Intra-EU27 trade accounted for 71.7% of exports and 72.3% of imports, while extra-EU27 trade was €13.5 billion in exports and €17.8 billion in imports. In June 2025, exports increased by 6.3% year-on-year to €8.2 billion, while imports rose by 0.6% to €10.5 billion.
