The public debt of Romania exceeded 1.040 billion lei in June 2025, increasing from 1.034 billion lei in the previous month. The percentage of GDP reached 57.2%. Medium and long-term debt rose to 976.37 billion lei, the majority being government bonds. Domestic debt is 522.96 billion lei, while external debt reached 517.67 billion lei, representing 28.4% of GDP.
