Between January and April 2025, Romania's external debt increased by EUR 4.196 billion to EUR 209.089 billion. Long-term debt accounts for 76% of the total, and the current account of the balance of payments recorded a deficit of EUR 10.103 billion, up from the previous year. Direct investment by non-residents fell and the long-term external debt service ratio was 13.2%.
