Members of the European Parliament and the member states of the European Union have reached a provisional agreement for the implementation of the trade agreement with the United States, announced on Wednesday by the Cypriot presidency of the EU.
The agreement aims to implement the provisions regarding customs duties from the EU-US joint declaration, adopted on August 21, 2025. This decision comes in the context of threats from American President Donald Trump, who warned the European Union about imposing new customs duties if the ratification of this agreement does not take place before July 4. The agreement aims to facilitate trade between the two parties and to avoid trade tensions.
