President Klaus Iohannis has signed the decree promulgating the Law on Offshore Wind Energy, paving the way for wind energy production in the Black Sea.

The law on offshore wind energy was adopted by the Chamber of Deputies on April 9, and the President's signing of the decree of promulgation is an important step towards the development of renewable energy in Romania. Offshore wind energy production could help strengthen Romanian industry by producing green hydrogen and value-added products. In order to operationalize investments in offshore wind energy, the Energy Ministry will launch a specialized study within three months of the law coming into force. This study will determine the maritime perimeters to be concessioned for offshore wind energy exploitation.
