Universal Music Group, known for artists like Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar, has received a takeover offer of $64.3 billion from investment firm Pershing Square, according to the BBC.

The CEO of Pershing Square, Bill Ackman, stated that this transaction would transform Universal into a publicly listed company in the US market, thereby strengthening its position in the global music market. Universal not only owns famous artists but also legendary studios like Abbey Road and record labels like EMI and Island Records. Ackman praised Universal's management for developing a solid portfolio of artists and for remarkable financial results, mentioning that the company has capitalized on opportunities offered by artificial intelligence.

Although the stock price has stagnated due to external reasons, Ackman believes that the offer can correct these issues. The proposal includes compensation for shareholders, and the new company is expected to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange, with a renewed board. Pershing Square hopes to finalize the transaction by the end of the year, and Universal's shares rose by 11% after the announcement. This move could change the structure of the global music industry, providing new opportunities for investors.
