In the first three months of 2026, over one billion packages with the SGR symbol were collected, having a return rate of 88%

According to data published by RetuRO, the administrator of the Guarantee-Return System, in the first three months of 2026, Romanians returned over one billion beverage containers, representing a return rate of 88%. In March, approximately 389 million containers were collected out of the 509 million introduced into the market, resulting in a return rate of 76%.

Since the launch of the system, over 9.6 billion containers have been collected, and 700,000 tons of materials have been handed over for recycling. RetuRO, a non-profit company, supports Romania's transition to a circular economy, mobilizing citizens to adopt environmentally responsible behaviors. The system is supported by a consortium of associations and the Romanian state.
