OpenAI has begun negotiations with advertisers to launch ads in ChatGPT, asking for a price of approximately $60 for 1,000 impressions (CPM). This rate is about three times higher than the average cost of ads on Meta platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram. However, OpenAI will not provide advertisers with the same level of detail regarding campaign performance, such as user actions after viewing the ads. Advertisers will only receive high-level data, such as the total number of impressions and clicks. Although OpenAI may provide more information in the future, the company has promised users that it will not sell their data to advertisers and will keep private conversations confidential. The first ads will be available in the coming weeks for users of free plans and the lower-tier subscription (Go).
